Dallas Shooting: ‘Anti-ICE’ Message Found on Ammunition After Deaths of Two Immigration Detainees

A shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas, has resulted in two fatalities and one critical injury among detainees. The assailant, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, opened fire indiscriminately from a rooftop, targeting both the ICE building and a nearby unmarked van.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that messages with the phrase “ANTI-ICE” were found on the ammunition recovered at the scene, indicating a potential ideological motive behind the attack. The FBI is treating the incident as “an act of targeted violence.”

DHS officials noted that the facility serves as a short-term processing center, not a detention site. Speaking at a news conference, ICE Dallas acting director Joshua Johnson urged a cessation of divisive political rhetoric, echoing sentiments expressed by Texas Senator Ted Cruz and other officials who condemned the use of violence for political ends.

This incident follows a series of protests and attacks on ICE facilities, including a reported bomb threat in August and previous shootings, which officials attribute to increasing politically motivated violence against law enforcement. Texas Governor Greg Abbott emphasized that such acts would not deter ongoing deportation efforts.
