At least three individuals have died and several others are unaccounted for following severe flooding in Globe, Arizona, officials reported on Saturday. Gila County’s emergency management director, Carl Melford, indicated that two victims were discovered inside a vehicle, while a third was located elsewhere in the city, which has a population of approximately 7,250. Emergency crews have been searching for missing persons since Friday evening, and officials have advised the public to avoid the historic downtown area due to compromised buildings and hazardous debris, including propane tanks carried away by floodwaters.

In South Carolina, preparations are underway as an unnamed weather system, now identified as Tropical Depression Nine by the National Hurricane Center, is expected to approach the state’s coast as a hurricane next week. Governor Henry McMaster urged residents to stay vigilant and monitor the weather closely. Additionally, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein declared a state of emergency in anticipation of the storm’s impacts. The system was reported to be about 120 miles south-southwest of the central Bahamas. Forecasters have warned that it is crucial for residents in the Bahamas and along the southeastern U.S. coast to remain alert as the storm progresses.
