Jeffrey Epstein Threatened Sarah Ferguson Before Her Apology

The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, reportedly sent an apologetic email to the late Jeffrey Epstein in April 2011 after he threatened her during a menacing phone call. This communication followed her public disavowal of Epstein, which had occurred after he became incensed by her comments labeling him a paedophile. James Henderson, her spokesperson at that time, recounted that the call was “chilling” and described Epstein’s voice as having a “Hannibal Lecter-type” tone. The duchess characterized Epstein as a “supreme friend” in her email, apologizing for the public criticism and expressing awareness of his feelings of betrayal.

This email was revealed shortly after Ferguson admitted to making a “terrible” error in judgment in accepting £15,000 from Epstein to settle her debts, claiming to “abhor paedophilia.” Following the emergence of the email, several charities, including the Teenage Cancer Trust and others, severed ties with Ferguson, citing the negative implications of her past association with Epstein.

Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died in a federal jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on serious charges, with his death ruled a suicide.
