Russia Signals ‘Decisive Response’ to Western Provocation, Says Lavrov | Ukraine Conflict Updates

During his address at the United Nations General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov issued a stern warning to NATO and the EU, stating that “any aggression against my country will be met with a decisive response.” He emphasized that Russia had no intention of attacking the West but remained prepared to act in the face of provocations. His remarks followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s accusations that Russia was testing European defenses through recent drone and plane incursions.

Lavrov also dismissed Western claims that Russia planned to attack NATO, insisting these were unfounded provocations. He expressed cautious optimism for potential ceasefire talks with the United States, noting dialogue might continue, especially following recent comments from U.S. President Donald Trump, who appeared supportive of Ukraine’s territorial reclamation.

Amid heightened tensions, Russia reported capturing three villages in eastern Ukraine, while Ukraine responded with a drone attack on a Russian oil facility. The situation in the region remains dire, marked by casualties from artillery strikes and ongoing challenges at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, which has faced prolonged power outages. Zelenskyy announced plans for U.S. arms discussions as Ukraine bolsters its defenses against ongoing Russian attacks.
