President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of US troops to Portland, Oregon, citing the need to protect the city from what he described as attacks by Antifa and “domestic terrorists.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump instructed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to provide necessary troops and mentioned that he is authorizing the use of “full force” if required. This marks the fourth city, following Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Memphis, where Trump has deployed troops on US soil.

Portland’s mayor, Keith Wilson, a Democrat, has previously expressed opposition to Trump’s intervention, stating, “I have not asked for – and do not need – federal intervention.” The president’s announcement does not clarify whether he plans to deploy the National Guard or regular military forces in response to the ongoing tensions in the city.
