Two detainees were shot at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, as reported by CNN, citing law enforcement sources. Initially, ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons stated that three individuals were shot and taken to a hospital but did not specify their identities or conditions. Preliminary investigations suggest that the shots were fired from a possible sniper positioned outside the facility, which is now secured.

Dallas police confirmed one victim died at the scene, while the other two were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. The department did not validate CNN’s report that the victims were detainees. They clarified that the suspect opened fire on a government building from a nearby structure, and authorities plan to hold a press briefing later today.

Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security, acknowledged multiple injuries and fatalities resulting from the incident, confirming that the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
